The American Eagle Dog is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the American Eskimo and the Beagle. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. "This is my American Eskimo Beagle mix at about 8 months old. He is a great dog named Kirby. He was born on Valentines Day and I bought him as a gift for myself. Kirby loves to play outside, he is very socialized with other dogs and children. He is very well behaved, most of the time! Kirby loves rawhide chewies and loves hiding them around the yard even more. When we play fetch he gallops to the toy and the last stride is always pouncing ontop of it, it's very amusing to watch. Some of his bad traits are chewing and digging. To keep him from being naughty I exercise him regularly starting with a walk in the AM and PM, playing in or outside as well as playing with other dogs. Then he's too tired to get into trouble! I have applied some of Caesar Milan's tricks in training starting with the infamous Beagle bark. Anytime he would bark or would not listen to commands I would give a gentle tap on the side of his neck to "snap" him out of whatever he was focused on. I had great results and he never barks and I have not used a shock collar. Also when we walk I keep him close and do not let him pull me around, I find from the beginning of training you just have to be consistent and they learn very fast. In all I feel any type of mixed breed makes the best pets!" __________________________
